They are common in folding bikes, 'cause they fold up and get out of the way.

The SwissBike is a folding hardtail mountain bike.

I have ordered a set of DMR V8s from PricePoint. Now I need to remove some of the studs or wear shin guards or both. The new FSRxc doesn't fold and I can carry it in the van with fixed pedals. It rides on the left side, lashed to the air mattresses.
