I switch between the big ring and the small ring in the Summer and winter on my Campy Athena double (20 years old now). The 53 tooth sprocket on my Steamroller single speed is my "Summer" Gear and the 42 tooth sprocket is the "Winter" Gear. I think it is a 16 tooth singlespeed sprocket in back. I have no issues with the chainline.
