Indeed, thieves seem to steal things that look pretty rather than functional. My bike's seatpost was jammed and so was the front derailleur. My current bike now uses two locks, brought inside the house at night, and is nothing but black, with lots of scratches. The paintjob was so badly done by two weeks it looked like two years old
