Thanks everyone, and sorry for not sharing the reason. We (wife and I ) both have touring bikes, with aero bars. I'm adding a rear brake lever and rear der shifter to the aero bars (using JTek splitters). DOn't want to have to buy two sets of shifters; now know I can buy one set, and use in friction mode.
Thanks again. BTW- been watching the SL-BS77s on EBay- lots of them selling for at or over what you can get new for. And most of them on Ebay do not include cables. Amazing...
