I resent being called a liar. I didn't fall when learning. My one humiliating tumble came after riding through days of rain on the unpaved sections of the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, in northern BC.
I swooped into a roadside pull-off, screeched to a halt in fron of a busload of tourists, and promptly tumbled on my side. The return springs on my SPDs had rusted and become clogged with grit and dreaded
calcium chloride (used for dust control).
