How cold is TOO cold for the little fella in a trailer?

OK, I'm prety psyched. The Bruce is six months old and sit's up like a champ! I got the go-ahead from my wife to get whatever child-transporting bicycle device that I want and take the boy out. I have decided on a trailer for several reasons. My question is this though: if he's bundled up in his warm pants and parka and hat and hood, how cold can it be out and not be TOO cold for him. I know that he would be out of the worst of the elements in the plastic cover of the trailer (one thing I like about it over a kid-seat) but his little face would still be un-covered! Any advice from other cold-weather cycling parents would be greatly appreciated!
