Hi,

My Marin Point Reyes is not the newest one it is from 1994. I bought it after doing a tour in Vietnam on my old Mt. Bike. After that trip I started to think of what the perfect bike to return to Vietnam on would be and ended up buying the Pt. Reyes.

I never made it back to Vietnam byt I have used it on three trips in Thailand and a small bit of Cambodia and it has worked very well. I travel pretty light with out front panniers and have no complaints. The roads in Thailand are good but those in Cambodia were horrifically bad, but the bike performed great.

The things that have failed on it are all due to my negligence and lack of repair skills.

And with the panniers off the bike is a real nice ride. With the rack on it only weighs 10 kg., per the scales at BKK. I'd say go for it.
