I know that the shaft should intersect the head at the mid-way point, and the head-to-shaft angle should be about 75 degrees.
I got my mallet as a complete unit and those are its specs anyway.
The shaft for yours looks like it could take a golf grip. If you want a larger diameter, you can always load it up with hockey tape.
