Is this a fair trade in your opinion? cannodale CAD3 1000R for700$ value bike.

HI. I started out biking as Trials rider but for the past two years was not riding at all. So I decided to sell my Trials bike or trade it for a road bike (I need one for commuting next year) Im pretty sure I can get atleast 600 if not 700 for my bike ( by the end of year) but a trade came up really fast for a Cannondale CAD3 R1000 with full ultegra components, mavic rims on dura ace hubs. (all details that I got from him, I should get good pictures tomorrow and I will post them up). from my research it appears the bike is 1998-1999 and all components mentioned came with this model standard.
What Im asking?

is this trade in your opinion (assuming the bike is good shape) a fair trade (aka is it worth about 700$ or so) or am I gonna get a short end of the stick? (keep in mind I like stiff rides and also assume that if I ride it it will fit me perfectly otherwise I would not trade)
What am I gonna use it for ?
I plan to use this as a commuter and putting anywhere between 20-40 miles a day next school year and would like it to last. So what you guys think...

Thanks

P.S please dont burn me for been a nub...
