I haven't dealt with the Cateye, but I had dealings with the PB Blaze. I've found that the PB Blaze's beam as being too focused, too low powered for low light street riding, and had trouble with motorists seeing me when they're crossing intersections from my left. Even with two PB Blazes, they weren't enough to stop left crosses, and now the Blazes are retired to my storage cabinet for the time being.
