The outer screws (on the black area) should be fairly tight. The inner screws should be just tightened enough that there's no wobble. The hinge interface is on the inside region. The approach to removing the hinge is to take a screwdriver and hammer it on the hinge tube right where there's the crack in the black hinge region.

I think what you need to do is call BF. They're experts on this.

I myself have been having difficulty removing the NEW aardvark design, which I think is a far poorer design, removal-wise, than the old one.
