There is a joy to "single speeding"! Just recently, I converted my 5 speed folder into a single speed coaster brake bike, and like it very much!

Now the reason for the conversion was due to necessity thanks to a local bike shop ruining my rear axle on the original set up, but as I said, the new single speed wheel is a lot of fun!

I have to say you just can't beat the joy of single speed bikes. I took the dahon boardwalk out today; first outing since last october. All I had to do is put a little lube on the chain, some air, and ride away. No gear adjustments to mess with, just ride without thinking. Same for my 8 year olds single speed specialized hotrock. This dahon with the big apples is the best bike I've ever had.
