Clamp-on Front Brake
Tried searching the forum and was surprised there wasn't much on these brake systems.
What I am wondering is if any one has experience with them and can offer advice. I am of course talking about the modified brakes for track forks that clamp on to the fork blades so you don't need to drill the fork out.
The concern I have is in damaging the fork in anyway and of course the reliability and safety of the brakes. I live in the mountains and brake hard down very long descents. So if these brakes are just designed for shuffling through traffic then I want to know if I am better off just drilling the fork. The fork on this frame was actually designed to be drilled, there's a starter dimple where the hole would go. But it hasn't been drilled for 25 years and I'd like to keep it original, or not if I have to.
