The coyotes around here are extremely wary of humans, they run away as soon as they see you, Probably because they been shot at since the first settlers arrived here. When I was a kid, I saw a great example of humans messing up the balance of nature. The jackrabbits would get so numerous that they would have rabbit drives and kill them by the hundreds, then the 'yotes would cause so much havoc with the chicken coops and sheep herds that they would put a bounty on them, and then the rabbits would be back. Rinse and repeat.
