Where are you located? Are you looking to buy it in an IBD or online?
I have a KHS Fleetwood which has the older Nexus 7-sp. with the thumb shifter which I love.
My wife has the Breezer Uptown which is an excellent city bike. (two baby seats on it!)

If you have a decent bike shop near you, you could buy a single speed bike and have them rebuild the back wheel with the internal hub of your choice, like:
