By "funnel" I presume BigBlue means one of those
Melitta 1 cup coffee makers. They are plastic, and can be used with a wide range of mugs or pots, and you can make rather a lot of coffee with 'em if need be. It is definitely cheaper than a "camping" french press, and is probably a lighter solution if you're making coffee for more than one person.
