I don't think that's how it's done. I think what he does is follow the cyclist with the camera as he goes by, which makes the background blur from the movement while the cyclist stays in focus. Difficult to do well like it has been done here.

Where's the original poster to tell us how it's done? Great pics man, share the secret please?
