This is what someone who is about to crash sounds like:

from VDV
“I am nowhere near 100 percent,” Vande Velde said "It’s getting better, but I need the first week to pass so I can heal up, and I’m not optimistic to recover over the (stage 3) cobblestones.”

“I need to get through stage 2 and stage 3 without any crashes,” Vande Velde said. “I have a healthy fear of the cobblestone stage. Once you get on the cobbles, it’s hard, but the real fight is where you are entering. It’s going to be a free-for-all. And we haven’t even talked about what will happen if it rains.”

oi. not good. does not sound confident. and when you start worrying about crashing we all know what happens...

it's too bad. I really like the Garmin team. They seem like a good group of lads, and every time I hear VDV do an interview he come across as being very grounded .... errrr, poor choice of words... you know what I mean. But I don't think his heads on straight. Maybe Millar can give him a pep talk.

and as much as I'm rooting for him, I don't think Farrar is getting around Cav.
