As a rule, if it's a tool, you will at some point need it. Buy it now, and you'll have it. As a simple rule, if the tool is going to cost me the same as a trip to the shop, the tool is worth it.

Yes you will need a crank puller, yes you will need a standard bb tool (if you get one that is "Shimano compatable" you'll most likely be ok, it looks like a cassette tool but bigger).
