The illusive goal

My final goal for this cycling season is to ride a century in 5 hours saddle time (or less).
The target for this goal has been the seagull century in October but I will be tieing this to a few other conflicting goals. One is to ride with my two brothers - neither of which are ready for that kind of effort even though the course is pancake flat and a pace line is easy to attach to.

So I am signed up for a century in two weeks. one I had only considered to help with another goal this summer, that is to ride 6 centuries this year. Now in looking at the Pat Statton century the course looks fairly flat - no more than 2400' of ascent and no more than a 3% grade.

For all you seasoned 50+ century riders - do you think this profile looks like a good choice to break the "speed" barrier?
