With several manufacturers, inclding Colnago, you are paying a premium for the name. For others you may pay a premium for their marketing campaigns. So what?

If you can afford it and want it, then brand is as good a reason for choosing Colnago as any reason for buying any brand of bicycle.

Are Colnagos still built in Europe? I know most brands, regardless of where their company resides, have their frames built in various "uninspired" countries.

You will read biased viewpoints here in both directions on a variety of topics... In my opinion, read and accept what you want, and definitely ride what you want.

If you feel better owning and riding a Colnago, it doesn't matter too much whether it is because it is a better bike, or because you like the name/heritage better.
