Depends on the Amtrak. The ones I use on the East Coast limit the size of carry on by size and weight Most 20" wheeled folders will fit within the size restrictions, larger probably won't. Amtrak does have boxes available that will allow the bike to go as baggage, if the station has checked baggage. I have actually shipped bikes between NC and Boston that way several times.
