Your bike shop should be able to replace the bottom bracket for around $20-30. If they can't, take it to a different shop that can.

I'm not sure what you mean about the hub being bent. You probably just have a bent axle. If your hub is truly bent, I can't imagine the bike is very rideable.

Frankly, the Sprint was a low end bike at the time. Honestly, if you have $2-300 to spend on a wheelset you're better off just going on Craigslist and getting a different bike. You can get a pretty nice used road bike for $300. But if you really like this bike and want to keep it, there are lots of wheel options out there.
