Seriously though what's that point of a chainstay protector? If you're just covering up with a tube or tape then what's the point? If you're just trying to protect the paint there's no point since it will just be covered up.
well, with a steel frame the chain will eventually chip off the paint, allowing rust to develop.
ALso, it makes this horrible clank clank sound on every bump, so for a measly 4 dollar investment i eliminated all of that
