Another problem you might have is if the bike you want to change has top tube cable routing. Road bike front deraileurs are only bottom pull so the cable runs under the bottom bracket and not from the top tube., Also Sram makes a cassette with an 11 tooth high gear cog in 8 or 9 speed. I think Shimano only goes to 12 tooth till you go to 9 speed.
