You can fake both of these... The lockring can be removed with a wide-bladed standard screwdriver and a mallet; you can usually substitute a dull nail or a small punch and a hammer for the pin spanner. If you're going to be doing this a LOT, it's worth dropping the money for the real thing, but if it's a one-off, I wouldn't bother.
