dude, go on youtube and type in Redbull Rampage. The jumps they do in thoes videos poop on post #6's chest. And they land them (most of the time) suscesfully.
Most of the jumps I saw per your suggestion, had a spot the jumping cyclist could land on. The jump in #6, straight drop, watch it again for yourself, he pitched the bike immediately, that tells me he knew there wasn't a shelf or softer angle to land on. He had nothing but the abrupt stop of the flat at the bottom of the jump. see for yourself where he landed at the minute mark of the video and shattered his ankles at impact.
