Night rides are great but make certain you have a front light good enough for the conditions and 2 rear lamps just in case one fails. The helmet lamps are a good secondary lamp for in case your main one fails.

And lamps are not only for night. I do a few winter commutes back from work in winter light conditions. I set the front lamp to blink and it is surprising how many cars "Do not" pull out in front of you at junctions.
