The void in the surface over time causes a misalignment in the submolecular microstructure between the base titanium and the annealing zirconium atoms. As the grain structures of the two dissimilar alloys get out of phase, it causes the metal to exhibit characteristics of an event horizon in miniature. This in turn causes the frame to, quite without warning, implode on itself, sucking the attached components in with it to the point of irretrievability.
