The Transition Double and Blk Mrkt Killswitch have frame weights of close to 8lbs. I doubt that the OP's bike weighs more than that, especially if you ripped apart the drivetrain and made it a singlespeed. It just isn't as strong.
Hm, good to know. 01 posted a comment on another thread that's got me thinking about putting a DJ on my list of things I'd like to buy this year. I assumed they would be light because they're made to defy gravity & don't require as many parts as a multi-speed bike, but I guess it does make sense that they'd be made to handle all kinds of abuse.
