I don't do nothing serious but commute. On winter mornings in socal it gets as low as 30-40 thats it. And all i need is a big 5 40-50 dollar windbreaker and a light jacket under. And i'll be plenty warm. for legs whise, My jeans keep my legs warm. For toe's i put newspaper at the ends. And i wear two gloves. Under my helmet i wear a cap with ear extensions. On windy days i tape the holes on my helmet.
Sometimes i like to tape down ends of my jeans so air doesnt come in.
Coldest part of my body riding is my cheeks and face. I used to wear a mask but it started to get nasty and gross. Now i just stop everynow and then and warm up.
If you are just starting winter riding. Don't be afraid to over dress. Its alot better then underdressing. Well with a backpack atleast.
Summer riding in LA? It gets to the point where somtimes i have to unzip the top of the heat gear.... Its only cold for 3-4 hours in socal. rest of the day is 70-80 ugh.hate.it.
