Shiny is good. I have a pre-SRAM SACHS, myself. It's not shiny. They do have a way at being the lightest at their respective price points don't they. . but I digress.
Hey, so you use the derailleur outer limit to limit the shift or the shifter. . or combination of both. I do not believe I would personally do this myself, but the concept is very compelling-- no! I meant interesting. Interesting. . not compelling. Yeah. Let's go with that.
