Life is calm, actually. Have a look on-line at Gulf Daily News, Bahrain's English Language newspaper for a broader view. Especially the letters page.

The international news is lazy, and loves a good upset.The country is not as reported in many ways - not 'oil rich' : the refinery in which i work exports 250,000 barrels per day of which 40,000 is Bahraini - the rest is Saudi, refined under license. The Pearl Roundabout, the centre of the protest encampment, is a small traffic circle, not a large public space - certainly no equivalent to Tiananmen

There are grievances, certainly - however the protest marches are hugely outnumbered by the 'support' marches.

I, like the majority here, hope that the matter will be resolved by dialogue and concession. That won't sell as much advertising bundled in inflamatory 'news', though
