j/k ... seriously, if you are riding a reasonable amount just buy a couple of pairs of decent cycling shorts and try 'em. Needn't cost much.
As another poster said, if you want to cover them up with an outer short, that works too, but you'll get used to cycling shorts eventually.
They are made the way they are, and look the way they do, for good reasons.
