I've been reluctant to buy a dedicated repair stand and then a few weeks ago I had an idea..... take my trunk-mounted car rack (Saris Bones 2), flip open the lid on my garbage or recycling bin in the garage, and then mount the rack to the bin. Presto. I'll take a bit of precaution to put a counterweight on the opposite side so the thing doesn't tip over. Double bonus because it was free and also I don't have more single-use crap in my garage.
