Friend of mine is riding around a GT aero aluminum frame and 8spd. He needed lower gears for the hills so he put an altus RD on and a 12-30 cassette. I personaly have a Microshift mountain 9spd RD with Dura-Ace 10spd downtube shifters.
How do you like the MicroSHIFT stuff? No one around here seems to have heard of them (blank stares). I get the impression that is at least as decent as Shimano Tiagra / Deore or SRAM Apex/X9.
In fact, on first glance it all looks very SRAM-ish.
