It goes by the brand of the brake or the metal holder if only replacing a slide-in insert. Checking the trek specs the brakes appear to be Shimano, or a Shimano analog, so you'd need any one piece molded Kool Stop road shoe, ie. Supra-2 or the Dura-Ace insert pads to slide into the metal holders (if you have them).

BTW- if you currently have molded shoes and ride a lot, you might replace them with metal holders with slide inserts. This will cost more now, but less later on since the inserts are about half the cost of one-piece shoes.
