If you're going to credit card tour, no prob. If you're going to carry a tent and sleeping bag, get new wheels. On my light tourer, I've got Mavic Open Pros with 36 spokes. Never been a problem. If I were to do heavy touring, I'd get a heaver touring wheelset.
