They sold for about $350 when they first came out. That $55 unit was probably manufactured 4 years ago. The battery is gone. You'll have to send it to Garmine and get a new battery put in. Sometimes even a $300 discount is not a good deal. On the other hand if it's "new", that is you've purchased it recently, they might give you a good price for the battery job. Even if they don't, it will still be a good buy compared to having bought it at my price which was around $250 I think for the wrist version.

I've heard that they charge under a $100 fr a battery/refurb. You likely don't need a refurb.

It's a great unit. Never fails, good manual and the automatic data dump of charts and graphics to the PC is first class.

I have had great luck for a number of years. It's a good idea to do a little research with Google before buying stuff.
