I would offer $75 and tell him it's a 12 year old bike. Unless it has been upgraded with Deore shifters and derailliers or some sort. It basically looks stock and boring to me.

I would recommend to look around and save your money to get like a Specilized Hardrock Sport, they sell for about $200-250 used two-three years old in good condition. They have a great starter frame and came stock with a good suspension fork.
