I had the same problem before i changed from the cheap freewheel my bike came with to the white industries one i have now. When i pedaled i had this clicking/ticking sound. I thought it was my bottom bracket. I changed out my freewheel for other reasons, and low and behold the sound hasnt returned. Not saying thats the case, but its a personal experience. Might want to try checking in the mechanics section.
