The 29ers have been around and seem to be sticking, so i would give a big thumbs up to sampling the 29er. They are supposed to shine on rocky areas where a bigger foot print is helpful. Try that kind of rest riding if you will see many stones.
I like both groups of compnents. The Shimano mix is a standard MT mix, SRAM is a solid name, kinda of a coin toss here. I like the 20mm more travel on the Lefty over the Fatty, especially for a guy carrying your weight. I don't know if the Lefty has any failure issues, hopefully some of the other guys in this thread will know that.
I did buy a Full suspended Scott and found out later that the rear shock was made to support riders up to 215 pounds. I was 230 at the time. I haven't had any problems.
OH-BTW, some nice choices you are choosing between. Any special reason that you like C-dale?
