fwiw - I've noticed it is not unusual for the FD to be lower spec that the rest of the components on the bike and the RD to be higher. For instance a bike might be mainly Tiagra, but a Sora FD and a 105 RD. Personally I use the RD far more than the FD so I think it's a trade-off that makes sense.
