Rolling with a helmet camera is a great idea IMO, especially if stuff like this is happening. If you don't feel like shelling out for a GoPro, there's plenty of cheaper alternatives (the $10 808, the $40 HD 808, the $60 ACT20).
Otherwise, there's not really much I think you can do if you've already reported it to the police.
