Well, it's finally finished! What started as a frame that had been stripped of all Campagnolo components (as well as anything else useful) and was in imminent danger of becoming (Gasp, shall I say it?) a "fixie" is restored to as close to original as I can get it. There are variations from original: The smaller chainring is 42 teeth instead of 45 teeth, the saddle is a 1980 era Brooks Professional, and the rims are Weinmann concave clinchers, 27 inch. The paint is original and those with eagle eyes will notice the non-original Reynolds Five-Three-One stickers on the forks. These hide bad paint scars. As soon as I get a rain-free evening, I will hit the road with it for a shakedown ride. The most remarkable difference from my 1972 is the wheelbase (one inch longer on the 1971) and the head tube rake (more touring on the 1971, more racing on the 1972).
