I doubt he will or would if it were yesterday, gain much time on Cadel. Reviewing recent time trials including Cadel's at this year's Dauphine (which was held on the same course) they would probably be very close to each other. Two years ago when Contador was time trialing very well, that would have been a different outcome. He hasn't time trialed with the best ever since.

In the final time trial last year Contador lost 1:52 to Dennis Menchov. He gained only 8 seconds on Sammuel Sanchez & 31 seconds on Andy. I think he is time trialing better than last year, but he is not challenging riders like Fabian as he did in 2009.
