No offense intended, but it's kind of scary when someone considers buying a replacement tire in advance as a "great idea". Do you wait until you find the canister empty some morning before buying more coffee?

I don't advocate buying all kinds of spares in advance, but as you see that you're getting near to needing brake shoes, tires, cables, etc. buy the replacements and have them available when the time comes. Notice I didn't list tubes, the spare should already be with your bike.
