Installing it properly is key. If properly installed, the K-Edge is not gonna leave enough room for the chain to drop into. The chain should bump against it before it can find a hole to drop into.

The smallest space between the chain when on the smallest innermost ring and the chain deflector is usually the installation instruction for those kind of contraptions..
