Ouch! I carry 2 tubes AND a patch kit because I've had 3 flats in a day. Rim strips suck, I never use them.

I buy photo gaffer tape, a heavy cloth based adhesive roll for 19. bucks, tear it to width, wrap the rim twice and cut out the valve hole. A roll will last 5-10 years and I build a lot of wheels...
