Those "Silent" electric cars. Saw a program on TV last year and one of the manufacturers has set a speaker system to the throttle so it makes a sound as the car goes along. All sorts of sounds were tried and the one that worked best was the sound of a conventional cars exhaust.
The quotes around "silent" are appropriate. Except at extremely low speeds the tire noise from our hybrids announces them well.
